Join us Tuesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the launch of Melrose author Jane Roper’s new novel, The Society of Shame (Vintage/Anchor).

Named one of the “most anticipated books of 2023” by The Washington Post, the book is both a satire of social media stardom and internet activism, and a tender mother-daughter tale.

The evening will include a brief reading, a conversation with writer Sara Reish Desmond, also of Melrose, and audience Q&A, followed by light refreshments. Books will be available for purchase, courtesy of Molly’s Bookstore.

Suggested Donation for the event is $10 per person to support the work of Follow Your Art. A donation is not required to register.

Roper’s novel, The Society of Shame, is about what happens when a photo of a politician’s wife’s “feminine hygiene malfunction” goes viral, launching her to unwanted fame as the figurehead for a new women’s movement, #YesWeBleed.

“A novel that takes back shame while packing a funny and poignant punch… Astutely written, with the perfect balance among humor, heartbreak, and understanding.”
