Follow Your Art Community Studios, in partnership with the Melrose Farmers Market, is holding a free opening reception of the “Art at the Market” Community Gallery Exhibition on Friday, September 18th from 6:30-8:00PM at 647 Main Street. All are welcome to attend.
The artwork in the show was created over a series of five workshops this summer at the Melrose Farmers Market. Instructors from Follow Your Art guided dozens of participants of all ages through several market-inspired art projects, including produce stamping, blind contour drawing, printmaking, collage, and paper quilling. Participants could opt to take their artwork home or have it included in the gallery show.
While the workshops were free thanks to a grant from the Melrose Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council, donations were gratefully accepted and were shared between Follow Your Art’s Arts for All program and the Melrose Farmers Market’s SNAP match program.
“With this grant, we were able to bring creative experiences to a new venue, and we had a great time in all kinds of weather,” shared Kris Rodolico, FYACS’ Executive Director. “Seeing it all come together in this fall’s gallery show is something we’re excited to share with the community.”

Building community is at the heart of both of our missions, and we’re grateful to partner together in creating an inspiring experience that’s rooted in collaboration and creativity,” said Steph Zabel, Executive Director of the Melrose Farmers’ Market.
This all-ages event will also be a chance to celebrate Follow Your Art securing its forever home. The nonprofit purchased the building at 647 Main Street earlier this year, thanks in large part to donations from the community and a Cultural Facilities Fund grant from the Mass Cultural Council and Mass Development. Guests will enjoy refreshments and live music in addition to the new gallery exhibition.
The Art at the Market Gallery Exhibition will be on display in September.
