In partnership with the Melrose Farmer’s Market and with generous support from the Melrose Cultural Council, Follow Your Art Community Studios will be popping up with art projects at the Melrose Farmers Market this summer! A series of five workshops will culminate in an exhibition in the Gallery at FYACS in September.
The Workshops
NOTE: Sign-ups will open one month before each event.
June 18th, 2:00-4:00PM – No-Peeking Contour Drawing: Draw what you see, but don’t peek at your picture! This is a fun way to practice line drawing using inspiration from the market. Our abstract still-life artwork will be finished in watercolor; this is a fun activity for all abilities!
July 2nd, 4:00-6:00PM – Produce Stamping: Learn how to make and print stamps using market produce, combine them with drawn elements to compose an original work
July 16th, 2:00-4:00PM – Monoprinting: Monoprinting is infinitely fascinating and even a newbie can create beautiful compositions in rich colors. Learn the basics and make a monoprint inspired by the natural world.
July 30th, 2:00-4:00PM – Paper Collage: Use one of the most accessible art forms to cut, tear and fold an original collage. Food is our favorite theme challenge, but your imagination is the limit.
August 13th, 4:00-6:00PM – Paper Quilling: Try your hand at a 3D art technique that is centuries old but very en vogue. Roll, shape and glue paper filigree into basic shapes that can be combined beautifully.
