Woodburning Techniques for Newbies (18+)

Pyrography is the old art of “drawing with fire” and when you do so on wood, it’s called wood burning. Come try it out! We’ll go through a newcomer’s introduction of the craft, including the various pyrography methods, safety, woodburning styles, pen nib techniques, and tips and tricks to mark making. You’ll experiment with the pyrography units by doodling on lasercut wood shapes. Come with ideas of what to draw or trace from graphics provided. Go home with decorated wooden coasters, keychains, bookmarks, and/or ornaments.
Woodburning for Teens
May 28th 4:00-6:00 PM $75
Try out pyrography, or woodburning, by using heated metal pens to doodle on lasercut wooden shapes! You’ll learn how to safely use and take care of your tools and experiment with mark making techniques. Come with ideas of what to draw or trace from graphics provided. Go home with decorated wooden coasters, keychains, bookmarkers, and/or ornaments.
About the Instructor
Wendy (she/her) is a Woburn based artisan. Her sculpture, woodworking, and paintings focus on upcycling, animal & nature conservation, mental health, and practical sustainable design. With education in Computer science, Visual Arts, Robotics, and Veterinary Medicine, she is still working on what she wants to be when she grows up. She also happily serves on Woburn’s Cultural Committee.
