Programs for Grades K-5: some general notes

  • Our programs run for one week sessions from June 27th to August 26th, with no programs the week of July 4th.

  • Our Imagination Stage Program, expanded from ShowStoppers, has two sections: Grades K-2 only in the morning and Grades 3-5 only in the afternoon.
  • Summer Studio covers K-5 in the morning and Arts Afternoon covers K-2.
  • Combining a theater and art program can cover a 9-4 day for all elementary grades, with Lunch Bunch automatically included. You can also choose just one program and add Lunch Bunch as an extra item.

  • Imagination Stage is located in the church next door. Staff will be on the porch to greet them!

  • Every program goes outside every day! We recommend waterproof shoes and a raincoat on rainy days

  • Snack is eaten outdoors if weather allows. Please pack a quick, nut-free snack, so we can get to the fun part of outside time!

  • Each program is designed to meet the needs of all the children in the designated age group. Our staff are flexible and can adapt projects and games to engage each participant. Rising 5th and 6th graders get additional challenges and responsibilities, our youngest artists get lots of support.

From your child’s imagination straight to the stage, this program brings kids together for a common goal that respects individuality. It’s a great space for active, creative kids with big imaginations and a flair for the dramatic! Using classic tales as inspiration, imaginations take over from beginning to end.  Each week, the cast will create an original show in which they are storytellers, actors, playwrights, and designers!  Mara uses creative theater games to engage the group in the entire creative process of putting together their original play. Your child will learn the fundamentals of theater by participating in the entire creative process through acting techniques, creative theater games and performing with scene partners. Everyone will have a chance to be actors, playwrights, and designers by working together to develop characters, the plot, and self-author lines for our show. Our Summer classic keeps getting better!

Summer Studio is a semi-structured program that balances material exploration, creative problem solving, critical thinking, and art appreciation, while enjoying the same creative self-expression that is always the hallmark of any FYACS experience.

Each day focuses on a different medium with activities that are adaptable to multiple ages. Various styles and new artists are used for inspiration for our work each week, and opportunities will arise for special projects and guest artists. We’ll use both two and three dimensional materials and each artist will get to explore at their individual level. Each week will culminate with an art show for students and families.

***PLEASE NOTE: If you are also registering for Arts in the Afternoon, we STRONGLY recommend ShowStoppers for your morning program. Summer Studio and Arts in the Afternoon work off very similar curriculums and a full day with those two programs will be redundant ***
