Thanks to a grant from the Melrose Cultural Council and the support of Stellar Story Company, we are excited to offer two free storytelling events with special hosts and featured tellers as well as a very discounted four-week workshop on the art of storytelling this spring. This is your chance to learn the basics of the art of the story. Jump to details and registration here, or read on to learn about the two events and the workshop.

Event 1: Living Room Stories

A Community Storytelling Event

Sunday March 9th, 7:00-8:30 pm

Open to All at The Big Yellow House

647 Main Street, Melrose MA

Join us for an evening of storytelling and listening with hosts Rilda Kissel and Christopher Robinson. Come with a prepared five-minute true story from your life, and let’s try out our stories together in a low-key, laid-back night. Not interested in telling a story just yet? Come and listen to others. We will have a TBD featured storyteller kick off the evening that we are super excited about — details to come!

The storytelling events are free and open to everyone. Donations at the door are gratefully accepted to further our work creating community events like this.

Workshop: The Art of Storytelling

Four Mondays, 7:00-9:00 pm

March 24, 31, April 7, 14

The Big Yellow House

647 Main Street, Melrose MA

While many people can intuitively identify a good story, crafting one can be more elusive!

During this four-week program, Stellar teaches skills and builds the confidence needed to share a meaningful personal story in various settings. Participants will meet in person for four weeks (two hours each) and learn the essential storytelling elements and expand their personal story library. The workshop includes a combination of dialogue, case studies, interactive exercises, instruction, and story practice.

With a grant from the Melrose Cultural Council and generous support from Stellar Story, we are able to offer this 4 week, 8 hour workshop for only $60 per person. Spots are limited so don’t miss this opportunity!

Event 2: Stellar Stories!

A Community Storytelling Event

Saturday May 3rd, 7:00-9:00 pm

Open to All at The Big Yellow House

647 Main Street, Melrose MA

Stellar will host an evening featuring any workshop attendees who want to try their stories in a safe, welcoming space! While this event is still an open mic like all of our other Living Room Story nights, workshop attendees will be prioritized here. We are working on a featured teller for this event and will have more details soon!

The storytelling events are free and open to everyone. Donations at the door are gratefully accepted to further our work creating community events like this.
