Intro to Native American Style Flute – Adults
January 9 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
This course is designed to introduce you to the Native American Style Flute and teach you the basics of playing music (alone and with others).
We will cover breath control, finger placement, playing scales, and some embellishments. We will learn some songs and also focus on improvising, allowing the players to bring forth their own music from this intuitive instrument.
Additional topics may include: playing solos and duets, playing with rhythm instruments, playing with backing tracks, and playing your own music.
Tuition includes: A flute, which will be yours to take home, instruction, and an opportunity to come paint your flute at our Saturday Drop-In sessions!
Being able to read music or play other instruments is not a requirement.
**Please note: This class WILL run on MLK Jr Day and President’s Day!
From the instructor: “These instruments are Native American Style Flutes. They are not affiliated with, or representative of, any particular tribe, band, or nation. I am not Native American. I just have a passion for this instrument and the music they can produce.”
Facilitator: John Gass
