Follow Your Art Community Studios is pleased to announce that we have a new home planned for roughly the summer of 2019. A small group of community members have partnered to purchase the property at 647 Main Street, a beautiful Victorian home built in 1889 previously owned by First United Methodist Church. FYACS will be renting the building from these buyers. The first floor will provide multi-functional, flexible space for classes, workshops, and events in the visual, literary, and (small) performance arts, while the second and third floors will provide space for “house” artists and writers to create their work in a cooperative atmosphere. There is a longer term plan for woodworking and pottery space on the basement level.
We are set to close on the building in the end of February. There will be some build out necessary, particularly to improve access for all community members. If all goes well, we hope to open, in some form, in our new space in early July.
There will be lots more to tell as the weeks progress, including information about our first fundraiser, A “Closing” Opening Party, on March 1st. We hope you will sign up for information and updates, and do connect and let us know how you’d like to be involved! You can also read more about our plans in the Free Press.
