Creative Writing Drop In

Don’t have time to write? This 2-hour drop-in is for you! Join local writers to supercharge your creativity with prompts, open writing time and conversation. Led monthly by local writers and members of FYACS Writers’ Studio. Writers of all genres welcome. Bring your laptop, notebook or whatever you use to write. Ages 16+ welcome.

This month’s facilitator is Shaun Bossio, who holds an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College and is the former Fiction Editor of Redivider. His short stories have appeared in Typehouse, Firewords and Palooka. He is currently at work on his first novel.

Make time for you! Get away from a screen for a night and get your hands busy with something creative. Either bring a project you are working on at home, or let Chiara get you set up with some user friendly supplies and basic instructions. Meet other creatives and spend some time with good people doing creative things.  Ages 16+ are welcome.

Improv for Adults

Dip your toes into the fundamentals of improv during this workshop! Whether you’re new to improv or looking for a refresher, this workshop will be an introduction to basic concepts, games, and the fundamentals of crafting a great scene.

 

Storytelling for Adults

Do you love listening to the Moth? Ever wanted to try telling your own story? Everyone has a story. In this workshop participants will work on developing a compelling story from start to finish. The first class will focus on what makes a good story and how to find the stories in your own life. The second class students will have the opportunity to workshop their story, hear stories from their peers and give/receive feedback. The final session will be a storytelling showcase were participants will tell their stories to friends, family, and alumni from the past workshop.

Cost: $295 (member discount available, includes all supplies)

Join local mosaic artist Roberta Tobey Gertz and learn to create your own masterpiece from pieces of glass and ceramics. The first class will be a planning session, and the second two classes will be spent working on your piece. Materials are included in the cost of this workshop, but participants are welcome to bring their own broken glass or ceramic pieces to work with – this option will be discussed during the first class.

Intro to Alcohol Inks

Date: November 22nd
Time: 6:00-8:00 pm
Age Range: adults 
Cost: $45 (10% member discount available)
 

Alcohol ink is a fast-drying medium that can be used on any non-porous surface. In this class, you will learn techniques to manipulate these brilliantly-colored inks onto white tiles as either a structured painting or a free form design to accent your home.

What a great time! We’ll do it again for sure. 

Wet Felting 

Date: November 17
Time: 1:00-4:00
Age Range: Ages 11 to Adults (a great class to take as a family!)
Cost: $50

Wet felting uses friction, water, and wool fiber to create a truly unique piece of fabric. Workshop participants will choose to create a wet felted wall hanging or cushion. This workshop is appropriate for ages 11 and up, making it a great opportunity for families to create together, or try something new!
