Little Masters

Ages 4-6

This inquiry-based group will look at work by noted artists and discuss what they see and what they think is happening. The group will then give it a try to create their own work in this artists’ style exploring various art materials. The group will work on expressive vocabulary describing what they see and also using these mindful words to help each other with their own creative process. Supplies included.


Exploring Art with Jen

Ages 3-6

Explore basic art skills with a balance of structure and experimentation. Groups are designed to build problem-solving and expressive skills, as well as reinforce natural creative tendencies. Varied materials and art concepts are presented in a way that takes into account the child’s creative interests, developmental level, and any particular cognitive, social, and emotional needs. Supplies included.


Let’s Paint

Ages 4-6

This group is all paint, all experiments, and all fun! Young artists use different kinds of paint, including acrylics and watercolor, and various techniques and painting implements to explore the basics of color, form and texture. This program allows for young painters to fully engage in the process of creative exploration. Supplies included.

Doodle Days

Ages 6-8

Using inspiration from our favorite things, real life, and other artists, we’ll dive into the drawing process to explore its endless possibilities. By exploring basic techniques, students can begin to look at composition, line, form, and texture, bringing the pictures in their imaginations to life like never before. 


Mini World Makers

Ages 6-8

If you like miniature worlds full of magic, make believe, and maybe even fairies, this class is sure to spark your creativity! In this 6-week class, students will use a variety of materials and objects to build their mini world, complete with map drawing. Mini worlds can be built in pots, like fairy gardens, as well as shoe boxes, lunch boxes, and small vintage suitcases, with plenty of room for individual directions and creative choices! 


Creative Arts 1

Ages 7-9

Through age appropriate art experiences with a variety of media, your child will explore basic art skills with a a balance of structure and experimentation. Groups are designed to build problem-solving and expressive skills, as well as reinforce your child’s natural creative tendencies. All materials and concepts are presented in a way that takes into account the child’s developmental level, creative interest, and any particular cognitive, social, and emotional needs.


Sculpture Exploration

Ages 6-8

In this 3D adventure tailored to our younger sculptors, we will have a wide range of materials and techniques to broaden each artist’s understanding of sculpture! Using fun prompts, some structural problem solving, a touch of art history, and interesting materials like found objects and foil, we’ll carve out a new artistic path.


Painting Techniques

Ages 7-12

While acrylic and watercolor paints may be familiar mediums to older artists, we’re going to expand on previous knowledge and introduce new concepts in color theory, composition, and strategies for our paintings. We’ll balance imagination and real-life observation to create a series of studies and final paintings in both acrylic paint and watercolor.

Drawing the Whole Picture

Ages 8-12

In this drawing class, we’ll work on projects that build on our artist’s interests, exploring different techniques through engaging subjects. Individual instruction will help your young artist learn the fundamentals of building a drawing and developing a personal style, building on what they already know, and encouraging exploration and experimentation.


Creative Arts 2

Got a creative kid who loves art in all forms but isn’t sure what their “thing” is yet? This is the place for the artist who wants to try a little of everything. Learn new techniques in drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and engineering, even printmaking! This survey course is a great way for creative kids to get to explore many materials to get a sense of what they prefer.


Sculpture

Ages 8-12

In this class we’ll do a more in depth exploration of what makes a sculpture, take our time with thoughtful planning, and push boundaries with the medium. Wire, plaster, wood, and found objects will all come into play, and thinking bigger and bolder is the name of the game! Students will practice larger sculptures with scaled mock-ups, learn how to engineer 2D sketches into a 3D reality, and balance art elements like form and color.

This is an opportunity for older artists to develop their skills in acrylic or watercolor painting. Projects will be based on individual student interest, and this is a great chance for motivated students to learn new techniques while working on self-determined projects. More structure is available for students who may need it, but, as always, artists are encouraged to bring their own ideas to class!


It’s Your Story: Creative Writing

Ages 10-14

What’s your story? Are you misunderstood like Kylo Ren? Or brave like Merida? This six-week creative writing class for middle-schoolers gives you the freedom to explore your personal story through guided journaling prompts to make getting started easy. This class will use examples from published personal essays, poems, and fiction and cover a variety of techniques that allow students to find their unique voice. Come discover yourself through language and leave with at least one complete piece.

Photography Club

Ages 11-15

This 4-week workshop is geared towards grades 6-9 with an interest in learning more about photography. Our high school facilitator, Kaileigh, is a 3-year photography student, working directly with professional photographer Thais De Marco Mapstone to develop a workshop to teach the basics and beyond. Drawing Club

This is a great opportunity for artists with a passion for drawing to get together, learn from each other, and gain valuable skills with Chiara as their guide. The group will meet weekly; artists can work independent study style on drawings from manga, cartoon character development to classical rendering and composition building.

This class is perfect for any creative teen who wants to try it all. It covers everything with a balance of structure for those who aren’t sure how to begin and independence to take projects in personal directions. Explore new and familiar materials, try multiple projects in both 2-D and 3-D media, and build expressive and creative problem-solving skills through art.


Teen Open Studio

This is a small, independent group for self-directed teenage artists who want to improve their drawing, painting, sculpture, or design skills. Artists’ interests and abilities are assessed, and personal instruction in specific media is offered. We work one on one with artists to help them develop a personal style, challenge creative skills, take risks and try new materials. Acceptance, encouragement, and constructive collaboration is encouraged among artists.

This is an opportunity for guidance and feedback in drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, and mixed media. Sara will take a maximum of 6 artists from beginning to intermediate levels and help you to create a personal goal based on interest and ability. This is a great way to get started with your “I’ve always wanted to….” art goals. Because of the independent nature of the class, there is no supply list, but the instructor will get in touch with you ahead of time about what supplies you should bring, based on your interests.


Adult Painting Workshop

Ages 17+

Come learn or build on your painting skills in the water-based painting media of your choice. Work in acrylics or in watercolors to create your pieces, with instruction specific to your desired project. We will provide basic supplies to get you started in class, though students may wish to supplement with their own supplies to work at home.


iPad Art Workshop

Just like with any other medium, having confidence in working digitally requires a toolbox of techniques, and ways to use them. With so many options at your fingertips, it can be difficult to know what to use, and when! We’ll cover a range of digital art skills with an in-class demo piece, and students will be able to apply those skills as they develop pieces of their own choosing going forward.

*An Apple Pencil and a compatible iPad with the Procreate app installed are required for this class*
